Pilgrims to the Kumbh have a unique chance of seeing some of the prettiest temples in Haridwar, all decked up for the event. If you want to look at them through a lens, the following are some of the must see temples at this time:-
1. Bilkeshwar Mahadev
This is a shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva and Ma Parvati. It’s a slice of calm in the otherwise crowded Kumbh celebrations. Located amongst thick trees and approached by a rustic dust path, the temple gives the picture of an ancient gurukul like setting.
2. Daksha Mahadev
Said to be the place where sati immolated herself when her father Daksha did not invite her husband to the yagna, the temple is rooted in mythology and presents a very colorful picture.
3. Laal Mata
A replica of the Vaishno Devi shrine, the temple also houses a frozen Shivalinga like at Amarnath. Located on an artificial hill, and with its larger than life figurines, the temple is colorful and makes a pretty picture.
4. Mansa Devi
The cable car ride overlooking the blue waters of the Ganges as it flows through Haridwar, the dense green forest beneath you, and the red hue of the sacred threads people tie at the shrine, the contrast in color make this shrine a visual treat.
5. Chandi Devi
Considered to be the place where the Goddess in her form of Chandika rested after slaying the demons Shumbha and Nishumbha, the location on top of Neel Parvat gives it a regal bearing and makes for a lovely picture.
